Water Management

FIH is fully committed to complying with wastewater discharge regulations across all its operating locations. Wastewater is monitored and treated in accordance with regulatory requirements prior to discharge, and daily monitoring combined with regular inspections ensures that wastewater discharge systems remain stable and continuously compliant. Since 2023, FIH has achieved a 100% installation rate for industrial wastewater quality monitoring systems. For domestic sewage discharge at certain sites, FIH has also established MBR (Membrane Bio-reactor) systems to treat domestic wastewater.

In terms of water management, using 2020 as the baseline, FIH set a target of reducing water intensity by 6% by 2025. This target was achieved ahead of schedule, with an actual reduction of 14.35%. Through behavioral awareness campaigns and water-saving devices (such as faucet aerators and flow controllers), water consumption has been reduced by up to 70% in certain applications. Reverse osmosis technology is also used to recycle cooling tower discharge water for use in flushing, dormitories, and plant irrigation. At the Beijing site, recycled water reached 4.3 million metric tons in 2025, accounting for over 27% of the site's total water consumption. Several FIH sites also procure externally supplied reclaimed water (reused water) to reduce consumption of clean potable water, putting sustainable water resource management into practice.
